Beauty is more than skin deep:
In order to properly care for your skin it is important to know how skin works
Did you know that your skin is the body's largest organ?
Skin is made up of 3 distinct layers.
- EPIDERMIS - The outer layer of the skin, where visible signs of aging appear.
- DERMIS - The middle layer of skin, just below the epidermis that produces collagen and elastin.
- HYPODERMIS - Below the dermis, consisting of a layer of subcutaneous fat; which varies from person-to-person. It contains blood vessels and nerves.
Knowing how to take care of your skin starts with
knowing your skin type -
NORMAL SKIN
- Clear in appearance
- Even coloring
- Neither light nor greasy
- Soft and supple, high degree of elasticity
DRY
- Irritated and tight after cleansing
- Often looks flaky
- Tendency towards fine lines and wrinkles
OILY
- Shiny appearance and enlarged pores
- Rough or irregular feel
- Prone to blackheads and blemishes
COMBINATION
- Dryness on cheeks and shiny appearance on nose and forehead (T-zone).
- Medium-sized pores.
- May experience some tightness.
HOW TO STOP AGING SKIN
Although you can't stop your skin from aging you can keep it looking youthful longer by keeping these 7 things in mind to prevent early aging.
- The Sun - Sun exposure dries skin, thickens the epidermis and slows down cell renewal, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. Avoid the sun when possible and wear sunscreen daily.
- Smoking - Smoking deprives skin of nutrients and oxygen. Smoking will weaken collagen and elasticity accelerating the aging process.
- Stress and lack of Sleep - Be sure to get enough sleep each night to restore, repair and rejuvenate your skin. Stress and lack of sleep can lead to lackluster skin as well as acne and dryness.
- Pollution - Pollutant, known as free radicals can block pores and break down skin's structure leading to wrinkles, roughness, dehydration and loss of elasticity.
- Facial expressions - Constant movement of facial muscles can cause fibers to slacken and overtime cause wrinkles.
- Sleep positions - Sleeping on your back is the best way to prevent wrinkles.
- Diet - Your skin will reflect what you put in it, so eat healthy nutrient foods.
STEPS TO TAKING CARE OF YOUR SKIN:
- Cleanse - Eliminate excess debris, oil and makeup. Wash with an Anew cleanser that will gently rinse with warm water.
- Treat - Treatments deliver targeted results toward specific skin concerns. Apply your Anew treatment to dry skin after cleansing.
- Moisturize - Apply your Anew Day Moisturizer with SPF to your face in small, circular movements avoiding delicate eye area. NOTE: Your Anew night cream will help repair and rejuvenate your skin while you sleep.
- Eye - Anew eye creams help improve the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, sagging or crow's feet. Start by applying to the inner corner of the eye and apply outward, then above the eye and brow.
